On the 24 August 2023, the New Zealand Health Minister announced new vaping regulations that will have impacts on some of Vape Merchant's products. The purpose of this email is to give you a brief summary on the key product changes and what Vape Merchant is doing to address them.
Until the changes take effect, our full product range is available in-store and online as usual. Rest assured that we are doing all we can to minimise the impacts on you. We value your trust and will keep you updated.
Flavour names
From 21 March 2024: Vaping flavour names must only use actual flavour names that are described in the regulations. Vape Merchant will need to change a small number of our vaping flavour names to comply with the new regulations. Flavour formulations will not change.
- a safety mechanism to prevent the device being activated or accidently operated by a child;
- removable batteries;
- labels with the prescribed information including batch numbers and nicotine strength expressed in mg/mL; and
- a maximum concentration of nicotine that does not exceed 20mg/mL.
- a safety mechanism to prevent the device being activated or accidentally operated by a child;
- removable batteries;
- a maximum concentration of nicotine that does not exceed 28.5mg/mL for products in nicotine salt form.
We are working with our product manufacturers on complying devices in time to meet the deadlines. We anticipate that this will mean our vaping devices going forward will have activation switches and timeout deactivation functions.
